On one of the last Iceboard sessions this spring I ended up with a scraped front blade. A quick and dirty solution was to transform the 4 blade Ice board to a 3 blade dito.
Iceboard quick & dirty solution
The quick and dirty solution turned out to be quite nice. The 3 blade iceboard performs really well when it comes to speed and surprisingly well on the slalom track. However, on the slalom track the turning radius becomes somewhat wide and I prefer the extra stability that a 4 blade iceboard will give you when performing tight gybes.
New Iceboard concept for 2015
For this season/reason I decided to try out a new Iceboard concept with 4 blades and more flex than my previous iceboards. I will use this board for slalom and probably also for speed. When I say “probably also for speed”, it´s more an issue of trust and confidence from my side, I know that the Ice board is god for at least +48 knots, but It’s a completely different sensation to ride an ice board with flex compared to a stiff board solution when it comes to speed.
It will be extremely interesting to try out this concept, signed Stefan Söderlund – Sweden.
