Garmin are now releasing the new edition of their action camera Virb. The new Virb is coming in two different versions, Virb X and Virb XE, the later with higher resolution and a PRO mode where you can adjust white balance, exposure and ISO.
Garmin Virb – Packed with functions
The Virb doesn’t match GoPro´s top edition when it comes to resolution but on the other hand the Virb is packed with functions that the GoPro lacks. Already the first edition of the Virb had a built in GPS with the awesome feature to show current speed on the film. For the new version Garmin has added new sensors and gyros to give you for example acceleration and g-force. You will also be able to connect different devises like Heart Rate Belt via Bluetooth.
Garmin Virb – Compatible with GoPro mounts
One of the first thing that struck us when we read about the new Virb was the GoPro users and their hard earned money that they have spent on different GoPro mounts. The fact is that Garmin Virb will be compatible with the GoPro mount standard. Thanks for that Garmin!
Virb X and XE – Hard facts:
Film resolution: 1440p/30fps / 1080p/60fps
Photo: 12 megapixel photos at up to 30fps
Water proof: 50 m (no extra cover needed)
Garmin GPS (G-Metrix): Tracks and overlay your speed, distance, position and altitude of your activity
The Virb X and XE will hit the market in June 2015 and will be priced to be a serious competitor to the GoPro range.
Stay tuned!
