JP X-Cite Ride 122 Test 2011/2012 and 2013

JP X-Cite Ride Board test 2011The redesigned JP X-Cite Ride 122 continous to performed very well in board tests. There are a few boards in this category that is slightly faster but the Jp X-cite Ride 122 gets excellent scores when i comes to early planing and acceleration, second best after the planing machine Tabou Rocket.  JP X-Cite Ride gets top scores  for easy handling and excellent gybing performance for beginners and like it´s predecessor the new JP X-Cite Ride 2011 offers excellent top-end control.

JP X-Cite Ride 2010 vs 2011/2012, the main changes

The X-Cite Ride 2011/2012 and 2013 has been completely reworked but JP have kept the basic dimensions and their trademark, channelled  vee in the mid section flowing into a vee in the tail. The main changes for 2011-2013:
– Refined outline to improve gybing performance and the sailing stance
– Redesigned deck shape to offer improved comfort
– Refined scoop rocker lines to improve handling in chopy waters

Hard facts – JP X-Cite Ride 122:

Manufacturer: JP-Australia, jp-australia.com
Shaper: Werner Gnigler
Length: 250 cm
Width: 68 cm
Volume: 122 L

Weight: 6,8 kg (PRO) 7,7 (FWS)
Sail range (ideal): 5,7 – 8,0
Sail range (rec): 5,5 – 8,5)

Windsurf UK, Jan-Feb 2011 – JP X-Cite Ride 122

The new JP X-Cite Ride is slightly wider than its predecessor with straighter rails and a wider tail for better stability. The X-Cite Ride is very stable under foot.

The JP X-Cite Ride accelerates freely and lifts up on to the plane very easily, requiring very little effort from the rider. The X-Cite Ride gives its riders a great confidence boost while blasting along as it always remains in complete control, even in the most challenging conditions.

The JP X-Cite Ride is really easy to gybe and very stable around the corners. The x-Cite Ride will help first timers improve their success rate quickly. It is also equally as good when driven into fast turns by more experienced riders that will be rewarded with full speed exits every time.

If you are seeking high performance from minimum effort then the JP X-Cite Ride is for you.

JP X-Cite Ride 120 test 2009 & 2010

JP X-Cite Ride 120 test 2009 & 2010

JP X-Cite Ride 120 board tests 2009 and 2010JP X-Cite Ride 120 is another board that has done very well in various board tests. JP X-Cite Ride is a very good performer and a excellent compromise between speed and gybing. Just like the Tabou Rocket the JP X-Cite Ride offers excellent top-end control and works really well in overpowered conditions.

The JP X-Cite Ride has features and characteristics that suits and appeals the less experienced rider as well as the advanced rider.  JP X-Cite Ride has similar characteristics as the Starboard Carve 121 but offers a little bit more ease of use to the less experienced rider. Boardtests.com

Windsport.com Apr 28, 2010 – JP X-Cite Ride 120:

One of the most impressive things about JP’s X-Cite Ride is that it has performance for any level rider. It’s not very wide for its volume so be sure to choose the appropriate size for your needs, possibly adding a few litres compared to chunkier models.

The inboard inserts promote a proper hips-in stance with your feet finding the straps instinctively. Progress to the outboard setting and the X-Cite Ride transforms into a much quicker board. JP’s X-Cite Ride is responsive to trim work and breaks free to an impressive top speed that also feels very efficient. One thing that sets the JP’s X-Cite Ride apart is its performance in chop.

Boards (UK) August 2010
– JP X-Cite Ride 120:

On the water the JP X-Cite Ride is an instantly likeable board. It’s another one of those boards that ‘just works’. It feels fun and relatively exciting, yet also very user-friendly underfoot. The JP X-Cite Ride has quite a bit of nose rocker, which gives it a very secure and safe feel – particularly in chop.

In the gybes the JP X-Cite Ride is very good – particularly for more advanced riders who want a board to turn tightly at speed. Less experienced gybers will find the board relatively stable and pretty good at maintaining speed through the turns.

It’s hard to pinpoint a ‘target buyer’ for the JP X-Cite Ride because it will appeal to just about every freerider from flat water improvers to advanced riders who sail in coastal conditions. The JP X-Cite Ride is a fantastic all-round freeride board.

Other windsurfing boards in the same test:

Exocet Sting 124, Fanatic Hawk 120, Goya FXR 125, JP X-Cite Ride 120, Naish Global Freeride, Quatro Freeride, RRD FireRide 125, Starboard Carve 121 and Tabou Rocket 125.

WIND – France, Nov 2009 –
JP X-Cite Ride 120:

JP X-Cite Ride is very balanced when not planing and stable for its volume. The volume distribution makes it tolerant to foot placement. It jumps onto the plane very quickly. The JP X-Cite Ride rides high on the water and literally flies over the chop.  The board delivers both very good performance and control. JP X-Cite Ride is an excellent freeride board, balanced and entertaining.
