The highly successful RRD Firemove remains unchanged for 2013. RRD has added a more durable version called E-tech. The RRD Firemove with its width and extremely thin profile has proven to be a great hybrid between freeride, freerace and freestyle wave.

RRD Firemove Freeride and Freemove boardThe RRD Firemove 110 is by far the widest freeride/freemove board within the segment with 75 cm compared to Fanatic Hawk 65 cm and Tabou Rocket 66 cm, at the same time one of the shortest. The RRD Firemove 110 is very wide across the middle as well as short, with a rounded shape. The RRD Firemove hull shape and width works effectively to help the board quickly up onto the plane and it accelerates rapidly up through the gears, with an impressive top speed.

Round the corners the RRD Firemove is a very rewarding board that is highly versatile. The rounded shape makes it super manoeuvrable and gives it an extremely playful nature. The RRD Firemove really delivers and comes highly recommended to riders that want a high performance manoeuvre orientated board that doesn’t sacrifice speed.

Jem Hall: I use the RRD Firemove 110 mainly, for coaching and freesailing back in the UK, as it feels around 125 litres, planes like a 135 and gybes like a 110 – so versatile, fast and fun.
I use the Firemove as I can have fun going fast, plane early and really crank into gybes. With the middle strap setting, not too far outboard or inboard, I can also do carving 360s, jump and loop it.

John Skye: The RRD Firemove 100 is so versatile I have used it in loads of different conditions. Everything from small waves, bump and jump style, through to flat water slalom style blasting with big sails.
As the Firemove is wider than normal, you have to basically add about 10-15L to the volume to get an idea of its relative size. For example the 100, which is the board I used the most, is actually much closer to a 110-115 board.

RRD Fire Ride 125 - tests 2010 and 2011RRD Fire Ride is a fast all-round windsurfing board and offers pretty god planning abilities even if boards like Tabou Rocket and Exocet Sting is a bit quicker onto the plane.

RRD Fire Ride is a really good carver that will appeal to the beginner as well as the more advanced rider. Are you looking for even more speed the RRD Fire Race could be an alternative, but then you lose a bit of the RRD Fire Rides maneuverability and easygoing abilities / performance.

RRD Fire Ride has a bit more passive board feel but in return the Fire Ride offers excellent top-end control especially on flat water. Boardtests.com

The RRD Fireride is not the most stable board while it accelerates, but the inboard footstrap setting is one of the easiest for progressional riders to get into once up and planing. The top speed is considerably faster in the outboard straps, but they aren’t placed out and back enough to match the fastest boards in the test.

To plane fully through a jibe the RRD Fireride prefers to be carved with full speed in a modern hips-in style that commits your weight forward over the board.

The RRD Fireride is a great freeride board for recreational riders who are aggressive in their desire to learn. It rewards hard work with style and the RRD Fireride is a board that they’ll be able to grow into for years to come. True recreational speedsters should look at the RRD Firerace models, instead of the RRD Fireride, to meet their slalom needs.

Boards (UK) August 2010– RRD Fire Ride 120:

When you get the RRD Fire Ride 120 on the water it instantly feels like a performance board. In a straight line there’s no doubting that the RRD Fire Ride is fast.

In gybes the RRD Fire Ride is really nice for both advanced and beginner styles. Advanced gybers will be able to drive the RRD Fire Ride hard and tight through the turn. Beginner / improver gybers will appreciate the extra stability and control the RRD Fire Ride offers through the turn, particularly compared to the livelier Fanatic Hawk and Starboard Carve.

The RRD Fire Ride is a board that will suit a wide range of freeride sailors. The nose and shoulders ride low, which gives very good control at the top end but make the RRD Fire Ride  more suited to flatter water.
